Residential Extension, Bloemendaal

This project consists of an extension of an existing row-house to blur the boundary between inside and outside and extend the living areas into the yard. The renovation includes a new entrance off to the side, a basement that accommodates the wine cellar and skylights to bring in natural light into the living room.

The wine cellar becomes an extension of the living room with the custom cabinet continuing from the living room into the basement and with the glass hatch allowing diffuse natural lighting into the basement emphasising the notion of a gallery.

The position of the entrance and materialisation of the extension, allows for uninterrupted sight lines through the house into the garden without compromising privacy.

The architecture of the extension is a modern translation of the existing building with large overhangs and dematerialised corners.

This project was realised in collaboration with Draw Architecten BV.
