Residential renovation and extension, Bloemendaal

The original floorplan was organised as such the living spaces were not facing the garden. The concept for this project was to reorient the living spaces and create a clear flow that brings all of the spaces together.

The original garage was repurposed as a pool house with wellness and the guest bedroom on the ground floor was repurposed as the garage. An open floorplan was introduced with a visual axis between formal entrance and garden and a second informal entrance was introduced perpendicular to this line, forming a cross in the floor plan, for the family.

The original small and dark extension was demolished and replaced with a larger and more modern one to accommodate the custom kitchen and informal dining. It is positioned to act as a hub in the villa connecting the interior with the garden.

The reorganisation also included re-establishing the visual axis on the first floor between entrance and garden as well as creating a new primary bedroom with ensuite custom bathroom with custom cabinetry. All of the storage space and shelving was custom made.

The palette of natural materials and colours helps to define the different interconnected spaces and contribute to a unique luxury that seamlessly connects the interior with the exterior.

This project was realised in collaboration with Draw Architecten BV.
