Transformation of monumental postoffice with residence to a daycare and office space, Voorschoten

The transformation of this monumental postoffice, dating from 1905, to a daycare was part of a large renovation that also included the transformation of the director’s residence on the first and second floors to office space.

The largely dilapidated building was stripped of the dropped ceilings and plenum walls to reveal the original ornaments. Even though the original building organisation was to remain due to its monumental status, only a minimal intervention was necessary to accommodate the new program of daycare center on the ground floor and office space on the above floors. Original details were restored and where necessary reproduced and all new plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems were integrated during the renovation without compromising the original style.

The daycare interior was styled in house.
