Under the previous name of AKArchitect and in colllaboration with SPRIKK and Barbara Berends, Absolute Yoga Amsterdam has been designed to accommodate a large number of students, while maintaining a sense of exclusiveness and comfort. The entrance through the teahouse acts as a foyer between the busy Overtoom and the serene atmosphere of the garden with the yoga studio.
As the entrance is set back, the students’ route to the yoga studio is a gradual transition from the noisy street to the calm of the yoga studio. The offset of the reception desk from the bar guides the student en route towards the yoga studio taking them along the shop merchandise and lounge area.
Classes are taught in two large and comfortable Hot Yoga rooms. A relaxation space for cooling down is mirrored and provides access to the garden. The greenery in the garden area hides a vast outdoor yoga platform, showers and relaxation area for students after
class. The tea lounge extends the principles of Yoga and also functions as an information point on these principles.
